So many things are done by remote control, even to flying airplanes. People are so busy they don’t have time to visit the sick and often don’t know about it, or know just what to do for them. ARTHUR PASSES George Stevenson Arthur, 84, of Tryon, died at his home in the Valley Thursday night after an extended illness. A brief funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at McFarland Funeral Home in Tryon with the Rev. Joseph R. Clair, of the Church of the Holy Cross, officiating. (Friends are requested to omit flowers). The interment service will be held at Hanes Chapel in Greensboro on Sunday aiternoon. Mr. Arthur had made his home in Tryon for the past 18 years. He was a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, and came to this country 68 years ago when he was 21. For 17 years he was manager of the Biltmore Estate truck gardens at Asheville. During the follow ing nine years he was manager of the WiUiam Brakaw Hunting Lodge at Trinity, N. C. At one time he was in charge of the Southern Railway agricultural ex hibits at fairs all over the South. Mr. Arthur’s wife, the former Miss Isabella Henrie, also a native of Scotland, died in Tryon in 1936. The deceased is survived by the following children: Miss Edith Arthur, of Tryon; George G. Ar thur of Clinton. S. C.; J. H. Ar thur, Kings Mountain, N. C.; Frank T. Arthur of Charlotte; Mh-s. R. G. Groome, John T. Ar thur, R. B. Arthur and E. S. Arthur, all of Greensboro, N. C. Mrs. James G. K. McClure has been elected vice-president of the North Carolina society for the preservation of antiquities.
